Hosted by Bette Midler, the program includes interviews with Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson, music writer Francis Davis and National Public Radio star Terry Gross (host of Fresh Air), with memorable performances by Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Cher, Dusty Springfield, The Carpenters, B. J. Thomas, Tom Jones, Jackie DeShannon, Glen Campbell and, of course, the fabulous Dionne Warwick, an inspirational muse for so much of the Bacharach-David songbook. Also included are thirty minutes of DVD Bonus Features.
The Music CD
This companion CD is a musical celebration of Hal David and includes many of David's Top-40 hits, many in original versions by the original artists. The nineteen tracks featured here Hal David wrote with Burt Bacharach and other composers, and together they span the career and illustrate the genius of one of America's greatest lyricists.
